Sounds:Flump

The word Flump i got from someone flicking through a book really quickly flicking the pages. I also associated this with the flump of pillows when you throw or drop them onto your bed.

For this i thoguht the word flump was a soft, rounded, low word. I thought a good thing to do was actually write it out of flumps itself. it worked quite well.

Sounds:Bwurr

Quite a lot of people have been asking what the word/sound Bwurr relates to which is a little dissappointing as i really quite like this sound/word more than most others. The sound bwurr i got from the vibrating of a mobile fone on a table.
For this image i used the volume symbol and turned the word bwurr into a line of sound like a visual representation when on a computer.
For this piece i used blue brusho quite thck and runny. i then used the hair dryer which makes a bwurring type of sound to dry it and give the effect of if it was vibrating. When you dry paper with a hair dryer if you do not hold it down the paper itself vibrates.

Sounds:Wobble

For the word wobble i first got this from someone putting a plate or a cup down but not properly as sometimes the do make a wobble sound.

This was quite hard to show and work with as you can't show wobbling well in a still image.
for this i wobbled some pva glue in the word wobble, waited for it to dry and then gave it a blue wash over the top.
For this image i found a water soluable pen and covered my paper in water i then wobbled it about to see what effect i would get. As you can see the outcome isnt that great.

Sounds:Bump

For the word bump i thoguht it to be an energetic, lumpy, bold word. To create this i used paper mache to form the word bump.
For this piece as i felt the word to be energetic i literally bumped the word bump together over and over.
These experiments i thought of the word and which bits of it interact and actually bump together.

Sounds:Scrape

The word/sounds scrape i originally got from people scraping there chairs. I then associated it with the craping of chalk on blackboards and the craping off of paint on metal objects.

To create the image to the left i made a stencil through scraping my scissors on some paper to create the word scrape and then wiping paint over the stencil.
This text reminds me of the greek alphabet and roman text.

Sounds: Clink

The word clink i interpeted to be a very sharp, shiny but bold word. I associated this word with glasses and sharp objects.

Sounds: Clunk

For the word clunk i thought of it to be a very strong, bold, heavy, chunky word. So therefore i used lots of dark coloured ink and papers with a big chunky brush.

Sounds: Zip

On all these different pages i have experimented futher with the sound zip.
The main backing of this idea was that depending on the length and material the zip was made of the sound was different.

For example the longer the zip the longer the word and sound would be, if the zip was metal it was a more definite strong word and if it was plastic it was a bit more bendy and gave a bit of a stranger sound.

I experimented with different spellings as you can see by gethering many different zips and listennign to all of the different sounds they make.
